The saddle-roofed arena that opened in 1983 and hosted hockey and figure skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics, inside Stampede Park at the south-east edge of downtown, with 17th Avenue’s bars to the west and East Village on the Bow River to the north. The arena’s own tour page calls this the building’s final season.

More than half of the Flames’ 42 home games fall Monday to Thursday, and most start between 6 and 8 p.m. Mountain time, with a few 2:30 p.m. puck drops, so plan for a game night as well as a weekend. Doors open 90 minutes before puck drop, there’s no re-entry, and construction around the arena restricts access, so arrive early.

Park off site, as the arena recommends. From the north, use the Remington Lot on 11 Avenue SE (C$12 per vehicle) or the Platform Parkade on 9 Avenue SE and walk in via 4 Street SE / Stampede Trail. From the south, enter via 25 Avenue SE and park in the Stampede lots (C$18 per vehicle).
Getting back
Walk back to your lot and drive back. The public lot just north of 11 Avenue SE has no in-and-out privileges.

The arena strongly encourages fans without its parking permits to use transit or park off site downtown. It also warns that construction north of the arena will cause traffic delays and limit parking. Pay through ParkPlus with the MyParking app or a pay machine.

Doors open 90 minutes before puck drop for Flames games, and warm-up starts 31 minutes before the scheduled start. The arena’s restaurants may open an hour before doors; the Saddleroom Grill opens two hours before puck drop.

Bags and entry lanes

The arena encourages you not to bring a bag; any bag must be smaller than 14 × 14 × 6 inches, and backpacks and luggage count as oversized. Use a Green no-bag express lane if everything fits in your pockets; small bags, diaper bags and strollers use the Yellow lanes. Everyone walks through a metal detector, except fans with a medical exemption, who get a pat-down instead.

The game-day and A–Z guides say the arena has no area to check bags or coats. The entry page says you’ll be asked to take an oversized bag back to your vehicle, and that “come November 5th” oversized bags go through X-ray screening and are stored at Guest Services for fans with nowhere else to leave them. The page gives no year, so check it before you bring a large bag, or leave large bags at your hotel.

The arena is cashless: concessions, stores and 50/50 sellers take debit, credit, Apple Pay, Google Pay and gift cards. Tickets are scanned from the Ticketmaster app, each fan needs their own ticket, and you can’t leave and come back in.

An adult fare is C$4.00 and valid for 90 minutes; youth fares are C$2.65, and children 12 and under ride free. An adult day pass is C$12.65. On Saturdays and Sundays, a C$18 Weekend Group Day Pass covers up to five riders over 12, no more than two of them adults, travelling together.

The arena’s tour page calls this the building’s final season. The City of Calgary’s current timeline has Scotia Place opening to the public for the 2027–28 NHL season, and the City will demolish the Saddledome when it opens.
