Stay at the south end of downtown and walk to the lakefront stadium.

To the stadium: Walk to Roosevelt Road, then east through Museum Campus to Soldier Field.
After the game: Walk back west through Museum Campus to Roosevelt Road; the Red Line at Roosevelt runs 24 hours if you’d rather ride north.
The tradeoff: It’s still a real walk: the hotels sit north of Roosevelt Road, and the Roosevelt train station alone is 3/4 mile from the stadium entrance.

The Loop / Millennium ParkA central base with a free shuttle

Stay by Millennium Park and ride the free game-day shuttle from the Millennium Garages.

To the stadium: Walk to the Millennium Garages on Lower Randolph, take the elevators to Level 2.5 and board the shuttle; it starts three hours before kickoff.
After the game: Board at the 18th Street turnaround after the game; service runs until two hours after the final whistle.
The tradeoff: You’ll ride to the game rather than walk, and the shuttle stops two hours after the final whistle.

River North / Magnificent MileFood and nights out

Stay where the restaurants and bars are thickest and ride the #146 bus down Michigan Avenue.

To the stadium: Catch the #146 on Michigan Avenue, or walk to the Red Line and ride to Roosevelt.
After the game: Board #146 on the west side of the Transportation Center (East Museum Lot) at McFetridge and Special Olympics Drive, or walk to Roosevelt for the 24-hour Red Line.
The tradeoff: Soldier Field is a bus or train ride away, and the last #146 north leaves Museum Campus before midnight.

O’Hare / RosemontShort trips that fly in and out of O’Hare

Sleep next to the airport and take the Blue Line downtown.

To the stadium: Take the hotel’s airport shuttle to O’Hare or make your own way to the Blue Line, ride downtown, then change to the Red Line for Roosevelt.
After the game: Walk back to Roosevelt and reverse the trip; both lines run 24 hours, but plan the change downtown with the CTA trip planner.
The tradeoff: The stadium is a long train ride with a change of line each way.

Getting back: Walk back west through Museum Campus to Roosevelt Road. If you’d rather ride, the Red Line at Roosevelt runs 24 hours.

Soldier Field puts Roosevelt station 3/4 mile from the stadium entrance, and the hotels are farther north. No walk time is published.

Getting there: Take the elevators to Level 2.5 of the Millennium Garages and board the free GEICO Gameday Shuttle on Lower Randolph. It starts three hours before kickoff and drops off at the 18th Street turnaround.
Getting back: Board at the 18th Street turnaround after the game. Shuttles run until two hours after the final whistle.

The shuttle is open to all fans, wherever they park. ADA-accessible shuttles leave from Level 3 of Millennium Park Garage and drop off at Gate 14. No frequency is published.

Getting there: Ride CTA #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express south on Michigan Avenue to Museum Campus. Or ride the Red Line to Roosevelt and walk east through Museum Campus.
Getting back: Board #146 on the west side of the Transportation Center (East Museum Lot) at McFetridge and Special Olympics Drive, just northeast of the stadium.

The last northbound #146 leaves Museum Campus/Adler Planetarium at 11:35 p.m. on weekdays and Sundays and 11:40 p.m. on Saturdays. After a night game, allow for that or use the 24-hour Red Line from Roosevelt.

Getting there: Ask for drop-off at the 18th Street turnaround west of Lake Shore Drive, or at Balbo and Columbus Drives.
Getting back: Walk north to Balbo and Columbus Drives for postgame pickup.

Taxis, limousines and buses can’t enter the Soldier Field campus from 90 minutes after kickoff until an hour after the game. Soldier Field advises against using map apps on the approach because of event road closures.

Getting there: Ride the CTA Blue Line downtown from O’Hare, change to the Red Line and ride to Roosevelt, then walk 3/4 mile east through Museum Campus. Use the CTA trip planner for the change.
Getting back: Walk back to Roosevelt and reverse the trip. Both the Blue Line and the Red Line run 24 hours.

It’s a long ride with a change each way. The CTA notes a modified O’Hare-branch schedule during non-rush hours and weekends because of construction. The hotels’ airport shuttles aren’t game shuttles.
